Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention Specialist 1

  The Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention Specialist 1 class information and registration is now available. Please click on our Conferences tab and then click on the title, Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention Specialist 1 for more information and to download the registration forms. October 15 and 16, 2015 Middlesex County Fire Academy 1001 Fire Academy Drive Sayreville, NJ 08872 This two-day course covers the job performance requirements of a Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention Specialist Level I as detailed in the National Fire Protection Association Standard 1035. The course is designed for the person who is responsible or will be responsible for leading a Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention Program. Material covered: • The difference between the titles Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention Specialist I and Youth Firesetting Prevention and Interventions Specialist II. A YFIP2 will manage or run the program; a YFIP 1 will screen and provide life safety education and work with the YFPI 2 who runs the program. • Summarize the job performance requirements as detailed in NFPA Standard 1035 • Develop a youth firesetting prevention and intervention program in their own community • Demonstrate how to evaluate a youth firesetting prevention and intervention program Instructors: Captain Helge Nordtveit (Ret.) Homeland Security and Fire Safety Conference 2015

Our 12th Annual Homeland Security and Fire Safety Conference is rapidly approaching! The only form of registration available for the Homeland Security Conference is to click on our “Conferences” tab and select ‘Homeland Security and Fire Safety Conference’. You will then be brought to our ‘Homeland Security and Fire Safety Conference’ flyer and registration fields. Please note that registration will not be completed unless all highlighted fields have had the required information entered and you have successfully hit the ‘submit’ button at the bottom of the page. Upon completion of your registration, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you provided solidifying your registration for this event. If you don’t see the confirmation email, please check your junk/spam folder for your email provider. For admission, attendees are asked to bring a minimum of one non-perishable, unexpired food item for donation to the NJ Food Bank. At this time, an agenda is currently being put together to be passed out the day of the conference. A brief outline of the day will be posted to our website once all speakers have been confirmed. We look forward to seeing you on June 4th!

Recommendations On Selection And Use of PPE For First Responders Against Ebola Exposure Hazards

The InterAgency Board (IAB) released on October 24 recommendations related to selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for first responders against Ebola exposure hazards. These recommendations build on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s PPE information and provide more detailed information on the selection and use of PPE based upon the risk of exposure.
