In emergency services, there are potential legal consequences for everything we do. The consequences can be civil or criminal and your actions can be intentional or unintentional. For Fire Officers and Fire Officials, in addition to your own actions, you can be held accountable for the actions or inactions of your subordinates. This course will address a number of legal issues, including, but not limited to: Freedom of Speech; social media policies; use of cameras and video footage from emergency scenes; laws against discrimination; code enforcement liability; and civil and criminal liability for Chiefs, Company Officers, Training Officers, Firefighters, Fire Officials and Fire Inspectors.
